Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to inform you of a change to our timetable this week.

We are holding the first Personal Development Day of this academic year on Wednesday 21st October; the first in a series to deliver the PSHE curriculum.  The school day will be collapsed to allow all students to experience different activities centred on one of our target areas for this year.

Students in Year 7 will need to bring their full indoor PE kit as they will spend part of the day working in groups completing a series of team building exercises and games led by Mr Yeadon.

Students in Year 8 will be working on a Business activity, teaching them team work, collaboration, planning, and financial awareness.

Students in Year 9 will look at basic first aid, relationships, E-Safety and developing a greater understanding of terrorism and the risks of radicalisation.

Students in Year 10 will be using stop motion animation to produce an anti-bullying video to promote the schools zero tolerance to bullying. Students are requested to bring in any items which may be useful as part of their ‘set’ for example lego to build a background set, characters from modelling sets, plasticine etc.

Students in Year 11 will be working in the Science department for the majority of the day completing their Science ISA, and will then spend 1 lesson working with their form tutors to consider their options once they have completed their GCSE Studies at TMWS looking at college, apprenticeships and other opportunities.

We thank you for your support in ensuring all students attend the day in full school uniform, ready to participate in the activities and experiences detailed above.

Yours faithfully

Jason Poulston

Director of Human and Personal Development
