Ofsted Report

7 June 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

Our latest Ofsted Report is available here.   We have retained our previous judgement of Requires Improvement which is somewhat disappointing but what we expected after the dip in examination results last summer and highpoint of 2014.  Our expectations for GCSE results this year remain high and if correct a September Ofsted inspection outcome may have reached a different conclusion.

The areas for improvement identified in the report had already been recognised by the school and actions are in place to improve these. The report recognises that improvements are starting to have an impact but we have not yet achieved the consistency required to be judged as ‘good’.  I was disappointed by the immaturity of a small group of students during the inspection and this only highlights the need to set even higher standards of behaviour in all areas of the school.  The responses on Parent View were overwhelmingly positive, as was feedback from staff and the students who met with the inspectors.  We now have a clear mandate to improve and you can be assured that as a school we are doing all that we can to secure these improvements as rapidly as possible.

Please do read the entire report as there are many positives contained within it.  Many areas of the school are good and we have many good and outstanding teachers.  The vast majority of our students attend well, work hard and consequently will achieve excellent results.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £550,000 in the school over the summer to improve our facilities and our student numbers are increasing.  We have a lot to do, but much to look forward to as we move forward.  Your views and support are very much appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Richard Harrison
