Please find below the full details of the new uniform that will be worn by all Market Weighton School students from September 2013. Also detailed are the arrangements for collection of the tie and blazer as well as our revised uniform rules.
The uniform complements the high standards, pride and sense of belonging that we want for all of our students. It very much reflects the considerations of the Student Council in proposing the new uniform; the decision by the Governing Body to provide a blazer and tie for every child on roll at the start of the autumn term demonstrates their commitment and support to this change.
The information below will hopefully provide all the information you need but if you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact the school.
A display of the new blazers and ties along with examples of the acceptable core elements of the new uniform is in the school reception for you to view.
Blazers and Ties
These will be available for collection at the following times:
Monday, 2nd September: 8:30am to 7:00pm. All year groups (Year 7 to Year 11)
Tuesday, 3rd September: 8:30am to 7.00pm. Years 8 to 11 only
Please note, that Year 7 starters must collect blazers and ties on Monday 2nd – ready for their first day on Tuesday (all other students will return on Wednesday September 4th)
There will be a range of sizes available.
The items must be signed for, therefore, if you make arrangements for either a student or someone else to collect the uniform on your behalf, please be aware that once an item is collected it is no longer the responsibility of the school.
The optional grey fine knit jumper with navy stripe will also be available to purchase on that day at a price of £14.00.
Replacement Blazers, Ties, Jumpers
Replacement items can be ordered at any point in the year via the school office and you will be contacted when your items are ready for collection.
We will also look to establish a stock of second hand blazers, ties and jumpers to assist in the cost of future purchases for parents. In light of this we would kindly ask parents to consider donating these items back to school when their child leaves.
We advise that all uniform must be clearly labelled with the student’s name as replacement items will be the responsibility of the parent/carer.
Old (Pre-September 2013) Uniform
The Friends of the school arrange regular recycling collections of unwanted clothing through the Firefighters’ charity. We will advise you when the next collection date is should you wish to recycle old uniform in this manner.
The Sports kit remains unchanged and can still be purchased from the ‘Schoolwear’ shop on the High Street in Holme on Spalding Moor. A full specification is also attached.
The uniform rules are to be adhered to at all times and they will be strictly enforced. Students not in the correct uniform may be isolated or sent home to go and change into the appropriate clothing.
Only a school blazer will be permitted indoors and the optional grey jumper may be worn underneath.
Students may wish to wear a plain white t-shirt underneath the school shirt during cold weather
School blazers must be worn at all times whilst in school, unless otherwise advised by classroom teachers.
Your support in the implementation of the new uniform is extremely important and we appreciate the efforts of parents and carers to make sure that all students can start the new academic year in this positive way.
