Refurbishment Programme

Dear Parents/Carers

In our most recent newsletter I wrote about some refurbishment works planned for the school which I am pleased to confirm have passed the final stages of approval and a contractor has been appointed.  The intention is that works will start on Monday 20 June and will be completed by the time students return from the summer holidays on Wednesday 7 September 2016.

The main areas of work are:
Refurbish the kitchen with new appliances and servery area.
Re-fit the main PE changing rooms to include new toilet and shower facilities.
New double glazing to the Maths corridor classrooms.
New reception and site access to improve student safety.
Improved pedestrian and disabled access to the front of the school.

The majority of this work will take place in the school holidays and will not impact on students.  The most time consuming work is in the kitchen and this needs to commence on 20 June.  This means that for the last 5 weeks of term we will not be able to serve a hot meal at lunchtime.  We will be continuing to offer a range of pre-prepared sandwiches, pasta pots and salads along with tray bakes, fresh fruit and healthy snack bars.  We will also have a full range of drinks available.  Students will purchase these items in the usual way using their online account. Students on free school meals will still be able to have a meal each day.

By starting this work early we hope to have it all completed ready for next term when we will be able to bring further improvements to our food service.  Please may I ask for your support over the coming weeks by encouraging your child to purchase lunch in school or provide a packed lunch.  Students will not be able to leave site due to these arrangements unless they have a lunch pass authorised by parents.

The full programme of works represents a £550,000 investment by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in the future of TMWS in updating our facilities to meet current requirements and provide a better environment in which students can learn.  We will continue to seek further improvements to ensure we can offer the best possible education for all of our students.

Yours sincerely

Richard Harrison
