Ofsted Monitoring Visit – Findings

Dear Parent/Carer

Ofsted Monitoring Visit – Findings

As you are aware, Ofsted visited the school on Monday 25 September 2017 to conduct a monitoring inspection. The resulting letter is available below and will be published on the Ofsted website shortly.

Ofsted recognised that we are taking effective action to become a good school.

The inspector recognised that we have high aspirations for the school, staff and students. He noted that the main focus has been on improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and that we have a rigorous process in place to monitor this on a weekly basis. As parents you can be assured that, where improvements are required, staff are challenged and support is put in place. We are continuing on our improvement plan by sharing best practice within the Local Authority.

The improvements in behaviour and attitudes to learning were recognised and we will continue to set high expectations in these areas.

The inspector was very positive about our initiatives to improve reading and the way we are using assessment data to ensure we identify gaps in students’ understanding.

I totally agree with the action points suggested in the letter. We had already set these as our main areas of focus and will continue to build upon them throughout the year.

Please do take time to read the letter and thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Richard Harrison
Headteacher
