Industrial Action

Dear Parents/Guardians

Re: Industrial Action

We have been informed by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) that they propose to take industrial action in the form of a strike on Wednesday 26 March 2014.

This action is not against the school itself but is part of national industrial action organised by the trade union who are in conflict with the Government’s education policy.

This means that a number of teaching staff at the school may decide to strike on that day (they do not have to inform us in advance) and, consequently, we may not be able to satisfactorily guarantee the health and safety of our students. This would leave us with no alternative but to close the school to some students on that day.

We are still waiting for final confirmation that the strike will go ahead but I wanted to alert all of our parents to the strong possibility that the school will be closed to some students on 26 March and to apologise for any inconvenience that this eventuality may cause.

I will inform you as soon as I am able to confirm whether or not the proposed union action will result in closure to some or all of our students.

Yours faithfully

Gavin Chappell
