Industrial Action 5th July

Dear Parents/Carers

Re: Industrial Action – Tuesday 5 July 2016

I am writing to inform you that on Tuesday 5 July 2016 there is planned industrial action in the form of a strike by the NUT.

Obviously, this is potentially disruptive to the normal running of the school and parents will be aware that strike action in the past has caused a full or partial closure of the school. In this case, however, we will be open to all students for the whole day.

The 5 July is our final Personal Development Day of this academic year and students will be involved in activities as follows:

Year 7 will work in the English department covering work based on their study book ‘Wonder’, apart from 7KW who are on a farm visit.

Year 8 will work with Barclays People Skills looking at ethos and respect.

Year 9 will learn about road safety with Barclays Work Skills and will have the opportunity to sit in an ICAR (a car crash simulator used to raise awareness of road safety for young drivers).

Some Year 10 students will be undertaking work experience during that week and they should obviously attend these placements on 5 July. The rest of Year 10 will be visiting Selby College as part of the school’s post-16 guidance programme.

I will contact you again should the circumstances of the strike change.

Yours sincerely
